Betty Marwick is looking forward to welcome her sixth baby. She is exhausted and does not her husband beside her, and starts to doubt whether she should give the baby for adoption. Dr Turner is having a new measles vaccination trial. Hazel Becker is an anxious first time mother and is tearing angry when her baby is turned away from the trial. Nurse Crane has a goal to give the cubs and the residents of Poplar the most memorable bank holiday ever.

Lucille tries to help a pregnant unwed teenager who kept her pregnancy a secret for nine months, and doesn't want to give her baby up for adoption.
