Résumé
Attablé dans un cabaret, le poète Hoffmann attend Stella, la jeune ballerine qu'il aime. Il évoque alors le souvenir des trois femmes dont il a été amoureux : Olympia, une poupée animée par la magie d'un artisan, Giulietta, une courtisane malicieuse, et enfin Antonia, qui mourut d'avoir trop chanté...
