Résumé
Following the death of her husband Francis II of France, Mary Stuart returns to her native land to accept the title of Queen, but her arrival is met with hostility from Protestant lords. Meanwhile, Mary's shrewd and practical cousin, Queen Elizabeth I of England, and her scheming half-brother, James Stewart, have desires to establish their own rule in Scotland and secure the crown for themselves.
